Welcome to kindergarten

Picture
Hello, I am Lisa Longabaugh, the kindergarten teacher here at St. Joseph Catholic School. I feel very blessed to be a part of this wonderful school. In May of 2001, I graduated from OCU with a BA degree in education. The very next weekend I married my best friend, Joshua. We have built an amazing home and family in rural Patoka over the past 25 years. I taught 1st grade and was a classroom aide for North and East Gibson school corporations after graduating until 2003.  That fall we welcomed our first child and I became a stay-at-home for the next 20 years. We still live in Patoka where our 2 adult sons are building their own homes and are soon to be married. Our daughter is a freshman at PCHS.
God opened the door for me to return to the classroom in the winter of 2023 as the part-time Health and PE teacher here at St. Joe. Teaching health and PE was the perfect step to getting back into the classroom. I was then offered the Kindergarten teacher position the summer of 2024. It was not an easy yes to go back to working full-time and to leave a ministry, a community God had built, Soulfit, but there was peace in the, yes, that only comes from God. I have truly enjoyed being back in the elementary classroom.
I am a high energy teacher with high expectations for the Kinder’s. My favorite thing about Kindergarten is getting to see each student grow in different ways. We get to do many fun activities in the classroom, as I try to teach each student in a personal way. We take time to feel our feelings, try again, become a good friend, and learn that just because we can’t do something yet doesn’t mean we will never be able to do it. Kindergarten is the best and I love learning with each class on how to be the best teacher I can be for them to learn and grow.

Hi! My name is Sabrina but our kinders call me Miss. Sabrina! I am the kindergarten aide here at St. Joe! I am a boy momma through and through with two wild guys, Riggs and Beau. I am from Gibson county and don’t foresee that ever changing I love our small town! Outside of school I enjoy raising my kiddos, reading, thrifting, cooking, sports, and traveling! The 2026-2027 will my second year with St. Joe and it will be the start of my first full year. I entered the kindergarten room half way through the 2025-2026 school year and quickly realized that this is where I belong! I came from 9 years of being in the medical field focusing on EMS. I have my paramedic certificate along with my firefighter 1 & 2 certifications. I started out as a volunteer firefighter and quickly got my EMT certification not long after and started on my career in EMS. I later got my paramedic certification and continued working on the road alongside my fire station. After time, I also got my private instructor license and started doing small classes in EMS education helping others obtains there EMT certifications. I quickly realized how much I enjoyed the education aspect of the field. As much as I love EMS something just never fully felt complete with having my kiddos, being a single parent, and having a career. I felt like I was missing something. When the position opened up at St. Joe I immediately applied without hesitation hoping it would fill the void I was having. I would be with my kids, able to attend all events, and I’d be in education. I am very very blessed to say it’s true. I feel I’ve found my true meaning and hope to further my education and gain my degree in Elementary education. Although I still work part time and weekends in EMS I’m very happy to spend the majority of my time in the kindergarten classroom. I’m beyond lucky I get to be a huge part in our kinders lives and I get to work alongside such a great family of staff. Teaching is my ministry “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord” Colossians 3:23
